Man Charged with Shooting on Goodhue Drive in Killeen

Police have released the identity of a man suspected of shooting a woman four times in Killeen Tuesday and fleeing the scene.

20-year-old Brodrick Jarod Hill has been charged with aggravated assault with a firearm and possession of a firearm by a felon. Hill is currently in the Bell County Jail with bonds set at $500,000 and $100,000.

The shooting occurred shortly after 2 PM Tuesady, January 26, in the 1200 block of Goodhue Drive. When officers arrived, they found a woman lying on the ground next to a Honda sedan suffering from a gunshot wound. She was taken to the Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center before being airlifted to Baylor Scott & White Hospital in Temple in critical condition.

Witnesses told police the gunman had fled on foot and provided descriptions matching Hill. A short time later, Hill was spotted in the 2000 block of Hinkle Ave. When he saw police, he fled. Police were able to apprehend him, and he was arrested and transported to the Killeen City Jail shortly before 2:30 PM. Police found a semi-automatic handgun in his possession.

The victim, 32-year-old Ashley Combs, told police she offered Hill, whom she knew, a ride. When they arrived at Goodhue Dr., Hill pulled a gun and shot her twice in the chest. When she exited the car to run, he shot her twice more in the back.

Combs said she played dead until Hill left the scene. She is now in stable condition. Police say Combs' 1-year-old daughter was also in the car when the shooting occurred. She was not injured.
