Killeen police are searching for a suspect who tried to rob two convenience stores Sunday night, only to flee each scene after employees refused to comply.

In a news release, KPD Public Affairs Officer Ofelia Miramontez said officers responded to the 7-Eleven at 1000 N. WS Young Drive at 5:31 AM Monday. There, an employee told them a man entered the store, drew a handgun, and demanded cash. When the employee said “no,” the suspect fled on foot.

At 5:43 AM, police were notified of another robbery at the Mickey's Convenience Store at 4808 Westcliff Road. In that case, the suspect approached an employee who was standing outside the building and demanded money. After some words were exchanged, the suspect again fled the scene without cash.

The suspect was described as a black man with a thin build, standing around 5'6”. He was last seen wearing a gray t-shirt and blue jeans. He reportedly used a white t-shirt to cover his face.
