A 31-year-old man was found dead on Brownsville Drive Monday evening after police received several calls about shots fired.

Police were responding to the calls when they were advised that a man had been hit. They found Harry Louise Polite III lying in the roadway with a gunshot wound in the 3200 block of Brownsville.

Polite was pronounced dead at the scene, and Justice of the Peace Claudia Brown ordered his remains be sent to the Southwestern Institute of Forensic Sciences in Dallas for autopsy.

Detectives are asking anyone with information about the shooting to contact Crime Stoppers at (254) 526-8477, bellcountycrimestoppers.com, or via the P3Tips app.

Crime Stoppers will not ask your name, and information leading to an arrest and conviction could net a cash reward of up to $1,000.
