TxDot has announced a complete lane closure along southbound I-35 through Temple this Saturday night.

TxDOT spokesperson Jodi Wheatley sent out a press release explaining the lane closures coming to Temple this weekend. They begin Saturday night at 8pm and will last until 11am on Sunday.

This will be a full southbound closure. Motorists traveling south on I-35 will be diverted to Loop 363 during the closure. Traffic will be allowed to re-enter I-35 on the south side of the city.

Northbound traffic will merge into one lane beginning near Avenue H in Temple and once you get past the construction zone I-35 northbound will open back up to two lanes.

Traffic headed east on SH 53/Airport Road will be able to turn onto 31st street to get to I-35. Of course, if you're headed east into town, you can also get on the loop, but it could prove difficult with all the extra traffic.

Wheatley also suggests motorists avoid the construction zone if at all possible from 8pm Saturday to 11am Sunday because road work will cause significant delays alone I-35. Anyone attending the Rodeo at Bell County Expo on Saturday evening will need to deal with the construction delays depending on your route home. Be safe y'all!
