A visit to Troy this weekend made me a little nostalgic, so I decided to take a few photos and share some memories.

I visit Troy a few times a month, but only to see a friend who lives on the southern side of town just up the street from the First Baptist Church. I rarely venture into the downtown area, and before this weekend I hadn't been to the Troy Community Center in almost a decade.

While attending a cousin's graduation party, I decided to walk around the building and see how much had changed. Not much had. The basketball court next to the pavilion took my surprise though, as did the metal benches and grills.

When I was kid, I played hockey with the older kids at the pavilion. I think they tolerated me because I was small enough to slip under some of the gaps in the fence next to the creek to fetch stray pucks.

I noticed that they'd fenced in the stairs that used to lead to the creek and the propane gas pipe. I used to walk across that pipe on my way home from school or the old Texaco. To think of all the times I'm almost fell off of that thing, yet I could have walked across it with my eyes closed.

Chances are that if you grew up in Troy, you either had or attended parties and dacnes at the Community Center. It hasn't changed a bit.
