Good Samaritans Restore Power to Texas Wedding Venue Just in Time
Here's a quick assignment...come up with situations when it would be the worst time to lose power.
Using the bathroom is not a good time, how about in the middle of a conference call, or while you're watching TV and it's down to the last two minutes of the game?
All three of these scenarios would be terrible for a power outage...how about at a wedding? Something along those lines happened in Jasper, Texas following the aftermath of Hurricane Beryl.
Here's an amazing story of ingenuity, faith, compassion, creativity, charity, resourcefulness, and love.
James Gunter, the Fire Chief of Beech Grove Volunteer Fire Department, made a recent social media post detailing this remarkable story.
Gunter had received a call concerning a young couple that was supposed to be married in a few hours. Daniel Zavala and Bondita Schubert were preparing for their marriage at Maroon Ridge Event Venue.
But, thanks to a tree falling on an electric line, the venue had no power, and there was no word on when crews could address the problem.
Zavala began knocking on doors hoping someone nearby might have a generator. That's when a series of phone calls made by wonderful and loving people started taking place.
As Gunter explained in his post, the owner of the venue was on vacation out of state, but vowed to do anything he could to help. He had offered to move the wedding to a different date, but that was not an option since the bride and groom were both sailors in the United States Navy, and this was the only date that fit their schedule.
Here's what followed according to Chief Gunter:
