Texas Lottery Confirms This Town of 6,000 Has A $1 Million Winner
Friday night's Mega Millions jackpot was worth $80 million. Nobody matched all six numbers, so the next drawing on Tuesday, June 25 will be worth approximately $97 million.
You Don't Have to Match All Six Numbers to Win Millions
Anyone who matches five of the non-Mega Balls numbers still gets a million-dollar payout. Friday's winning numbers were 3-18-27-40-44 with a Mega Ball number of 19.
According to the Texas Lottery website, someone in Texas matched all those numbers except for 19. That $1 million could have been multiplied to $4 million had the winner spent the extra dollar for the Megaplier option...He or she did not.
I don't think the winner is going to feel too bad about the missed opportunity. I mean, winning $1 million is a great way to start off the weekend.
Where Was the Winning Ticket Sold
The winning ticket was sold in Bridgeport, Texas. The town is home to a little over 6,000 residents and is located a little west of Fort Worth.
I used a picture from Google Maps of the Raceway convenience store where the winning ticket was sold. That store wasn't even open at the time of this photograph in September 2023. That's not surprising...these new mega-sized convenience stores seem to be popping up at every intersection.
What About Powerball?
Saturday night's drawing for the Powerball jackpot is up to $72 million with an approximate cash lump sum payout of $34.7 million.
Remember to play responsibly. Even though someone will eventually win, the chances of winning the top payout are about 1 in 300,000,000.
