New Store in This Tiny Texas Town Just Sold a $1 Million Ticket
Dale, Texas
Welcome to Dale, Texas...population---
Well, even the city limit sign doesn't say.
Actually, recent census numbers put the town's population at near 500. Dale is located in Caldwell County (my home county) at the intersection of two Farm to Market roads with no major highways nearby. That's why it was big news when word came out of a new convenience store being built.
In fact, not even Google Maps has a photo of the completed store, this is as close as it gets.
So, use your imagination and picture a completed store, concrete parking lot, and several bays of gas pumps. Now, imagine someone walking into this imaginary store and going up to the store clerk with $50 cash, and buying this real scratch-off Texas Lottery ticket...
...and winning $1 million!
I don't know the name of the winner (and probably never will), but it appears that someone in the Dale Metro Area is a new millionaire, before taxes.
And Speaking of Big Winners
In just the past few days, somebody walked into this convenience store in Kaufman (southeast of Dallas) and purchased a winning scratch-off ticket.
The Texas Lottery Hit $500,000 game produced its second grand prize winner of the game's run. There are still three other $500,000 winning cards in circulation.
Congratulations to the winners in Dale and Kaufman...and did you hear about the $5 million scratch-off winner from Teague, Texas? (READ MORE)
