Think You Know Texas? Here’s How Its Size Truly Stacks Up!
Texas is bigger than Texas, so it seems.
It's common knowledge that Texas is BIG. But I think we take it for granted sometimes without considering just how large the Lone Star State is.
How Big Is Texas?
Texas covers a whopping 268,820 square miles.
I'm sure you've heard about what various states can fit inside America's second largest. You probably have seen a graphic of like 50 New Hampshires inside Texas on an atlas, but I raise the stakes higher with this: what COUNTRIES could fit inside Texas?
#1 North AND South Korea
The Korean peninsula spans roughly 84,565 square miles. That's nearly a third of the size of Texas, despite doubling Texas' population of 30 million at 77 million.
#2 Germany
Germany sports a measly 138,067 square miles with more than 84 million inhabitants. Nearly half of the size of Texas, almost two Germanies can fit within Texan borders.
#3 United Kingdom
United Kingdom always surprises me with how small the country is. They really give off big country vibes to me. The UK is actually quite small with almost 95,000 square miles and a population of 67 million.
#4 Sweden
Although it's the largest country in the Northern Europe, Sweden is only about 174,000 square miles in size, about half of size of Texas. The land is about half the size but the population of Sweden is about 11 million: a third that of Texas.
