17 Year Old Takes 16 Year Old Brother’s Life After Police Reported Them “Playing” With Gun
A 16 year old has lost their life following the actions of their 17 year old brother. Here's what is known at the time of writing.
Houston Police Detail The Circumstances Of The Case
According to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, the incident occurred on November 25th, 2024. As reported by police, the time of the incident was 3:30 AM. The 17 year old and his 16 year old brother were with four other unidentified teens, making it a group of six.
The group of teens have not been identified at the time of writing.
At the time, police report the teens were without parental supervision, and were in possession of alcohol. At a certain point, one of the teens produced a gun, which the teens began to "play with it" as stated by Jason Brown, a Harris County Sgt.
When the firearm reached the 17 year old, he inadvertently fired the gun. The bullet from the gun hit his 16 year old in the chest. After the 16 year old was hit, efforts were made by the group to try and save his life, in addition to alerting 911.
Police Appear, 17 Year Old Taken Into Custody
By the time police made their way to the scene, the 16 year old had sadly passed away. Officers then began inquires, with the 17 year old brother arrested following the police questioning. Per Jason Brown, preliminary charges have been filed against the 17 year old, but the true charges the teen will face have not been revealed.
In addition, no reason has been given as to how the teens found themselves with alcohol or where the firearm exactly came from, however firearms were confirmed by police to be found in the home.
