Carolyn Brown may be a Washington, D.C. native, but after more than three decades, the city of Killeen proudly calls her our very own. As the owner and operator of the E Center, Carolyn Brown is truly a pillar and a staple of the community. She is not just an event planner or a stylist—this woman plays an important role not only in the Black community but throughout Central Texas, serving as a true heartbeat of the city. Some people call her Miss Carolyn, others call her OG, but everyone knows that Carolyn Brown is the godmother of the city of Killeen.

Why Is Carolyn Brown The Godmother Of The City?

It’s simple: nothing happens unless she knows about it first. Some of the best events, shows, festivals, and concerts over the years have happened because of Carolyn. Not to mention, she hosts events every year strictly for the community—such as the Black Girl Magic Brunch, numerous Christmas celebrations, and my personal favorite, the Juneteenth celebration. She’s not asking anyone to pay to enjoy themselves. She’s simply inviting the community to come out and have a good time, because at the end of the day, I truly believe Carolyn Brown understands that just as much as we need her, she needs us too.

How Can You Describe Carolyn Brown?

Strong, wise, and—most importantly—spicy perfectly describe Carolyn Brown’s personality. She has been a businesswoman in Central Texas for a long time and has faced countless obstacles, whether because she is a woman or because of the color of her skin. None of that ever stopped her from succeeding. Carolyn knows exactly who she is: a beautiful firecracker who has captured the hearts of people throughout Central Texas—and most importantly, Killeen’s godmother.
