The Rotary club of Temple, Texas is putting on a double fundraising project. It's kind of cool too. 1 club, 2 projects, supporting 2 non-profits, at 2 downtown Temple locations. Club members will simultaneously be hosting the First Friday in Downtown Temple on December 2.

"Fill The Truck"

What I think is fantastic is that the Rotary Club of Temple President, Jason Duckworth, let it be known that this initiative is to help alleviate low levels of food supplies at local food pantries. Supplying the suppliers. I love it!

How This Will Go Down

A decorated pick-up truck will be out in front of Corky's (also known as Tour Temple) on Friday, Dec 2 from  4pm - 8pm. Duckworth's goal is to fill the truck up with donated food items, canned goods, boxed goods, and other non-perishable items. Everything collected will be provided to the Temple Christian Outreach to stock their food pantry.

"Red Kettle" Campaign

The second project that will be happening on that day will be in support of the Red Kettle Campaign for the Salvation Army of Bell County. "Papa Elf" will be dressed up and ringing the bell from 4:45pm - 8pm in front of Fire Base Brewing. All proceeds will go to the local Salvation Army Center.

Duckworth says:

"There is a lot of need in our community, and our Rotary Club wanted to give the community an opportunity to support these two non-profits who help our neighbors in need."

Top 20 Restaurants Central Texans Wish Would Come to Temple

A while back, I asked the good people of Temple if they could picture a good restaurant to fill the lot on North General Bruce Drive where the soon to be torn down Long John Silver's stood.

This was before it was announced that a Dutch Bros. Coffee location would open there (which was one of the places I predicted as a contender in our article).

So now Dutch Bros. is open in that spot, but the responses to my survey were interesting because they paint a picture of just how diverse Temple's population is. People recommended some familiar restaurants with locations in the surrounding area, but also a few I'd never even heard of.

Here are the top 20 results of the survey. Let's see what the good people of Temple are craving!
