Serious And Deadly Illnesses Is Spreading In Texas
The number of cases continues to grow here in Texas as more people head to the hospital and to be honest, it’s both upsetting and frightening. According to KXAN, there has been a spike in hospital visits due to a respiratory illness entering the 2025 year. Influenza and Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) are very high nationally and are the CDC’s top concern, according to recent data. RSV, COVID-19, and the flu are currently the most common reasons for hospital visits. Even though COVID-19 is still at a very low level, these respiratory viruses remain a major issue.

WHAT ARE THE SYMPTOMS TEXANS SHOULD LOOK FOR?
Coughing, runny nose, and fever are the most obvious symptoms of respiratory viruses, but it’s important to note that other symptoms can include wheezing, a whistling sound, or a rattling noise when a child breathes. If you or someone else is experiencing these symptoms, be sure to check their temperature. A fever of 103°F or 104°F is a strong indication that it could be the flu, according to the Cleveland Clinic.
TEXANS NEED TO TAKE THIS SERIOUSLY
Annual flu shots are recommended by U.S. health officials, and it’s never too late to get vaccinated. Stomach bugs may also be a concern, as there were 91 reported outbreaks in early December. Texans are urged to take these warnings seriously, as doing so could save lives.
