Knowledge is power here in the state of Texas. Parents in the state want their children to learn and grow and they make their way to adulthood. A foundation in Central Texas, the Temple College Foundation, helped raise critical funding for those wanting to learn more.

What Event Happened That Assisted Temple Students?

As revealed by KCEN, in May of 2025, the Temple College Foundation held the Race for a Cause: 2025 Kentucky Derby. There were multiple events that happened at fundraising event. While the showing of the race was the main event, other things occurred.

KCEN reports that in addition to race, food and drinks were offered. Also happening was a stick horse race, a competition for the best hat, and of course, a live auction. The amount of money brought in, totaled at $128,333, will go a long way to helping students at Temple College.

How Did Temple College React To The Funds Raised?

The President of Temple College, Dr. Christy Ponce, was thrilled with how the event was a success:

“Temple College programs continue to grow and thrive, and we are so grateful to members of this supportive community who do so much to support student success...We are thankful to every person, every family, every business and every organization that invests in Temple College and our students.”

This isn't the only event the Temple College Foundation had planned in 2025. KCEN revealed that the Johnson Brothers Golf Tournament is set to take place on October 27th, 2025.

Boy did we receive a great response!

So now it's time to reminisce about old breakfast spots, taco joints, Chinese and Mexican restaurants, and lunchtime favorites we used to frequent in Temple.
