Adopting a furry friend is something many families do in Texas. Having a pet is a big responsibility as well, so finding the perfect one is a tough choice. But for one animal shelter in Waco, finding the perfect pet could be easier thanks to a recent development.

What Is Happening With One Waco Animal Shelter?

According to KXXV, Pet Circle Regional Animal Shelter in the city of Waco is currently suffering from overpopulation. KXXV revealed that, at the time of writing, Pet Circle is sitting at 144% in terms of capacity. This includes a massive amount of dogs, totaling more than 220.

Per the shelter itself, as told to KXXV by Melissa Sheldon:

"We have seen an influx in animals for the last couple of weeks now, but we're set up for about 189 dog kennels, and we're maintaining right now at about 220, so we're very over capacity."

So, with many dogs without homes in Waco, some are wondering how to assist.

How Can You Help Pet Circle In Waco?

Due to the overcrowding issue, Pet Circle has made it possible to adopt a pup without having to pay fees for adoption. But if you're unable to adopt, fostering is also an option that they've encouraged. According to Sheldon:

"If you're missing your dog, check the shelter, if you're looking for a new dog, even fostering is free, so if you want to take a dog for a few days, it helps us out greatly, and you may find your future forever."

Pet Circle is located at 2032 Circle Rd in Waco. As this is a developing situation, we will have more information when it becomes available.

Do Not Adopt These Dog Breeds If You're A Couch Potato

Choosing a dog breed that requires a lot of physical activity is crucial for those with a sedentary lifestyle, as these dogs need regular exercise to maintain their health and happiness. If their energy needs aren't met, it can lead to boredom, anxiety, and destructive behaviors, creating challenges for both the dog and the owner. Nobody wants to have to rehome a dog, but if you choose a breed that's not right for you, it can easily happen.
