Save That Money Texas! Another Tax-Free Weekend Coming Soon
Saving money in Texas is always something we wish to do isn't it? Costs always seem to be rising, and we all have to eat at some point right? But how do we save money when we don't know where to do so?
Thankfully some opportunities are bought our way, with various items being tax-free. One of the weekends is coming soon as well, May 27th through the 29th in the Lone Star State. But what are the items that are designated as tax-free?
The items on the metaphorical pedestal are none that appliances that are sure to help out with Texas power usage.
Energy Efficient Items Tax-Free In Texas This Coming Weekend
The Texas Comptroller has provided which Energy Star items will be exempt from taxes this weekend. Here they are listed:
- Air conditioners (with a sales price of $6,000 or less)
- Refrigerators (with a sales price of $2,000 or less)
- Ceiling fans
- Incandescent and fluorescent light bulbs
- Clothes washers
- Dishwashers
- Dehumidifiers
Note that these items must contain an ENERGY STAR®-label. Not all items are tax exempt however, with these still being taxed even with the previously mentioned label on them:
- Water heaters
- Clothes dryers
- Freezers
- Stoves
- Attic fans
- Heat pumps
- Wine refrigerators
- Kegerators
- Beverage chillers
So there you go Texans! If you need a new appliance in your home, this weekend might be the best time to finally upgrade. Just make you're picking up the right piece of equipment you need!
