This Texas Musician’s Song is Loved by Both Earthlings AND Aliens
You can argue that there are songs that are SO good, you might say that they're "out of this world". Well for one Texas artist, that really WAS the case. One Texas guitarist's song was SO good that even NASA themselves said they needed to send their song to outer space for everyone to enjoy.
Which Texas artist's song was sent into outer space by NASA
Back in 1977, NASA made a golden record called the "Sounds of Earth"; a collection of various noises & songs that was carried by the Voyager 1 & 2 spacecraft. This album was made with the idea that if any celestial creatures came upon this record, and listened to it, this was let them know what kind of life is found on the planet Earth.
Amongst all the songs on this record is a song by the Texas guitarist, Blind Willie Johnson, was born on January 25, 1897 & lived until he passed away on September 18, 1945. His song "Dark Was the Night" was chosen by NASA to be included in this collection because of its message about being alone in outer space...NASA thought this was a very fitting and appropriate message anyone left in the depths of space.
Therefore...this song is quite literally...amazing enough to be...out of this world.
Here are some other Texas songs that NASA should also put into outer space
Yes I've decided to do MY job as a "celestial citizen" to think of some OTHER Texas artists that, if any aliens or outer worldly life stumbled upon these songs, they too would get a better understand of our music scene:
- ZZ Top "Planet of Women" (or Gimme All Your Lovin' if we needed a popular song)
- Beyoncé "Halo"
- Pantera's version of "Planet Caravan"
- Post Malone "Alone"
- Selena "Dreaming of You"
- The Mars Volta "Blacklight Shine" (to be honest you can throw in a lot of their songs and they would work)
- and last but not least...Willie Nelson "On the Road Again"
Maybe NASA will make a playlist in the future & if they do, hopefully any life out there will find it, listen to our music and love it just as much as we do.
