Even with much needed rain hitting the Central Texas area thanks to thunderstorms passing through, we still can't escape the danger of fires in the area.

KWTX reported Thursday evening that a family in Killeen was displaced from their home by a house fire. Fire officials on the scene said the inferno was started by lightning.

The fire was reported to the authorities around 5:40 p.m. at the address of 814 Tuscan Rd. The first fire crew members on the scene found flames in the attic of the two story brick home.

Fire Marshal of Harker Heights Brad Alley said, “Due to the wind conditions at the time, the intensity of the fire grew quickly.” No injuries were reported at the scene of the fire, but a great amount of damage was applied to the home.
