Members of a committee seeking to raise funds for a memorial honoring victims of the November 5, 2009 Fort Hood shooting have released a video to raise awareness of the project.

Committee members hope that national coverage of the trial of accused gunman Nidal Hasan will bring about an opportunity to make the names and faces of those killed and injured during the 2009 attack better known and help aid in the raising of funds for the memorial project. They also hope to see donations from out-of-town visitors who come to cover or witness the trial.

The proposed memorial will be a 40-foot-wide open-air pavilion, and will include bronze sculptures representing objects symbolic of the personal lives of killed in the attack. The project is expected to cost around $300,000, half of which has been raised so far.

Those wishing to donate may do so by contacting the Killeen Community Center at 2201 E. Veterans Memorial Blvd. and the Killeen Civic and Conference Center at 3601 S. W.S. Young Drive, or by calling (254) 501-7878.
