Residents of Copperas Cove will be required to move their vehicles from the roadway in several city blocks for the next three months in order to accommodate a $270,000 drainage project scheduled to begin Friday.

The project will affect the 200 block of Bridle, Blanket, and Spur Drives. Inlet boxes, manholes, pipe drains, and culverts will be installed. Construction will also affect the 100 and 200 blocks of Saddle Drive.

The project is intended to correct inadequate runoff and prevent flooding along Saddle Drive, which has affected residents in the past.

During the project, the city has requested that all vehicles be removed from the streets between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. The roads will be closed to traffic, though open to residents, during construction, and detours will be in place.

Garbage collection will continue on schedule, but residents are asked to place their bins on top of the curb rather than in the street.

Residents with questions or concerns can contact the street department at 254-547-2168 or public works at 254-547-0751.
