Another skunk has tested positive for rabies.

A rabies alert has been issued for Gatesville, where the skunk was found on Sunday. The skunk was spotted on the 400 block of Valley View Drive on Saturday, when a homeowner reported her dog fighting with the wild animal.

The skunk was killed on the scene. Later testing off-site revealed the animal to be positive for the disease

This is the fourth case of a rabies-infected skunk this month. Last week, a homeowner in Gatesville shot and killed a skunk in his yard.  In the beginning of March two other skunks were found with the virus as well, in the 100 block of Pate Drive and a home in the 100 block of Ash Drive.

We don't want to sound paranoid...but what gives with all the rabid skunks?

We prefer our skunks speaking French and making unwanted passes and household cats who've accidentally had their backs painted with a white stripe, thank you very much.
