Boyz 2 Men Youth Center held its grand opening in March, and since then has been providing a safe place for Killeen youths to play sports, work on homework, or participate in other activities.

Despite the number of youth coming in to take advantage of the physical, educational, and life services offered, the center may soon be forced to close due to a lack of funding.

The center applied for nonprofit status, but will require financial help before the paperwork can be processed.

Founder Quentin Sterling is currently paying expenses out of his VA benefits, but does not know how long he will be able to maintain the center in this way.

The center is accepting donations of food, clothing, games, and books, as well as monetary donations. Donations under $10,000 are allowed as a tax write-off and can be dropped off at the center Monday through Friday between noon and 7 p.m. Fundraisers will be announced on the center's website. Volunteer opportunities are also available.

More information about the center is available by calling 254-415-0754, emailing boyz2menyouthprogram@gmail.com, going to boyz2menyouthprogram.org, or visiting the center at 803 N. 10th Street in Killeen.
