Kory Watkins of Open Carry Texas on the Daily Show

Kory Watkins, Director of Operations for Open Carry Texas, was featured in a segment of The Daily Show with Jon Stewart discussing the recent controversy between OCT and the NRA.

The two groups have been at odds lately after an unsigned article appeared on the NRA’s website criticizing OCT members who enter businesses while openly wearing long rifles in order to raise awareness of Texas gun rights. The practice, while legal in Texas, has been criticized by gun rights advocates who say it does more to hurt their cause than help it, as well as businesses and customers who have expressed discomfort or alarm.

On Thursday night’s episode of The Daily Show, host Jon Stewart devoted a segment of the show to the rift between the two groups which featured footage of Watkins, who is currently running for Congress in District 6 as a Liberty Republican.
