I’m Lynn Woolley with your Logic Minute for 4/5/13

Sometimes, it’s hard to believe that our leaders really want better
schools in Texas.  We stick with proven failures like bilingual
education because of political correctness – and because it helps
teachers make more money.  Instead of hiring more teachers and
rewarding the good ones – we pump our money into the pockets of
superintendents and their legions of assistants.  One proven way to
make any business or organization better is competition.  Turns out we
don’t want that either.  Senator Patrick’s push for school choice is
on life support.  An amendment in the Texas House to kill vouchers for
private schools passed in a landslide.  Dozens of Republicans joined
all the Democrats to thumb their noses at parents and students who
want to escape failing schools.   Face it.  Our schools are not
working; they are designed to fail; and the school lobby is too
powerful even for Republicans to resist.
