Lanes along a portion of Main St./317 in Belton will narrow for several days beginning Friday, July 14 as crews work on a new median.

In a news release, Paul Romer with the City of Belton wrote that the the southbound lane of Main/SH 317 between 8th and 10th Avenues will shift on Friday, July 14 to allow for the construction of a 2-foot concrete median along the roadway.

The lanes in both directions are expected to stay open, but the width of those lanes will be temporarily reduced. Romer said the shift is expected to last about 10 business days.

"A median is being added to Main St. in this area for safety purposes," Romer wrote. "The median will restrict motions and help traffic flow. The project also includes the installation of a new traffic signal and sidewalk ramps."

Romer thanked the public for their patience and cautious driving around road workers.
