I love a Christmas parade. Maybe that's exactly what we need right now.

2020 hasn't been what we had hoped it would be with the coronavirus and all. With that came the cancelation of everything, even 4th of July parades and, in most places, Veterans Day parades.

Killeen is doing something a little different for it's 58th Annual Christmas Parade. Instead of just cancelling the parade, they've found a way to make it happen and keep us all safe.

The City of Killeen announced its plans for a "reverse" parade. What's that? A "reverse" parade is where all the parade floats, decorated vehicles, walking, marching or performing groups are all in an assigned spot and we drive by them, instead of them driving by us.

It all happens Saturday, December 12 starting at 6pm in downtown Killeen and you can be a part of the parade.

You'll need to get your entry in by Monday, November 30th. The theme this year is "Park on Ice", and you are encouraged to incorporate that theme into your display.
Your float or vehicle must be decorated on both sides with at least 500 self-powered lights total.

You can also elect to have your entry judged. The categories include best non-profit, best commercial, or best entertaining group.

All the details you'll need including the entry form are online at KilleenTexas.gov/Rec. Take the entry form, announcer script, and $25 entry fee to the Family Recreation Center by 5:00p November 30.

It's a little bit different this year, but isn't everything a little bit different this year?
