The annual Wreath Laying ceremony will take place Saturday at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen.

Each year it's the great people of Central Texas who volunteer to decorate the graves of our veterans for a day of remembrance that falls near the beginning of the holiday season. If you've never attended the wreath ceremony, the video above features the event from just a couple years ago. Each of the graves at the cemetery has a wreath laid before it during the event. This years ceremony will include 8000 wreaths.

The Killeen Daily Herald reports that Lt. Gen. Paul Funk, the III Corps and Fort Hood commander, will be the guest speaker for the event. Local artist Julie Reese will sing and the Christian House of Prayer will give the prayers.

Many thanks go to the Friends of Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery who with the help of volunteers make this event possible each November. If you missed the event and still want to help, volunteers will be needed on January 12th at 10 am to collect the wreaths and store them for next year.
