It's been a staple of Texas cuisine for many years, and now travelers flying in and out of Austin-Bergstrom International Airport can get a taste of the Lone Star State's favorite burger joint: Whataburger.

The restaurant is located at 2901 Spirit of Texas Drive in the airport’s cell phone lot, so you do not have to be in the airport to get a burger. Yes!

The new Whataburger features seating of 72 people and it has a custom interior mural featuring well known local icons. In fact, I’m pretty sure Willie Nelson along with others will be on it.

This location will be serving in the dining room or through curbside pickup from 7 am to 11 pm daily, and of course, the drive-thru is 24/7. Delivery is also available at this location.

What's cool about a Whataburger opening at ABIA is that people traveling from Texas can enjoy one last bite of home before their journey, and people coming back (or visiting for the first time) have the orange W there to greet them when they arrive.

I mean, yeah, there are some other great places to eat and grab a drink to relax you at the airport, but it just seems fitting that there should be a Whataburger there too.

So, next time you fly out of ABIA, stop by the Whataburger first and savor a burger and Dr Pepper shake before takeoff. If you travel out of town and then fly in to ABIA, at least you know the taste of home is waiting right outside.

You could also try sneaking a burger on the plane in your carry-on bag, but chances are the security team will confiscate (and eat) it.
