The third suspect, 19-year-old De’Ondre Jermirris White of Killeen, is believed to have fatally shot  25-year-old Douglas Kantor and injured 14 others. During the news conference, Austin Interim Police Chief Joseph Chacon stated that White was in the same group as 17-year-old Jeremiah Tabb.

Tabb was originally believed to have been the shooter, but the investigation has now pointed to White. The Austin Police Department stated that the Travis County District Attorney’s Office will be dropping the charges against Tabb, and also the unnamed 15-year-old who was also believed to have been involved.

Austin Interim Police Chief Joseph Chacon stated:

“Based now upon multiple witness interviews, ballistic evidence, video evidence, and the positions of the suspect — Mr. White — and the victims, we know that White was the person who fired his handgun, striking Mr. Kantor and multiple other victims.”

When asked why charges were being dropped against the other two teens, Travis County District Attorney Jose Garza stated:

“At this point in the investigation, dismissing these charges (against the juvenile and Tabb) is what is in the best interest of this investigation as we focus on the person who is primarily responsible for the injury and death that took place on 6th Street.”

The Austin Police Department reports that 19-year-old De’Ondre Jermirris White has been charged with murder — his bond has been set at $1 million. White is still at large, and police consider him to be armed and dangerous. If you have information regarding the whereabouts of White please call 911 or contact the Austin Crimestoppers at 512-472-TIPS.

There is no word yet if the Bell County District Attorney's office will choose to pursue charges against the other two teenagers involved.
