It's the giving season, and while you may be giving money, toys, clothing, and food to those who need it, try not to forget about the need for blood. Baylor Scott & White in Temple is in desperate need of blood donations.

"During the 2020 pandemic, cancer didn’t go away. Trauma didn’t go away. Major life saving surgeries did not go away, and right now we need your help to continue these efforts," Tiya M. Searcy with Baylor Scott & White wrote in an email we received Thursday. "Baylor Scott & White Blood Center in Temple is asking our community to come together and donate blood in our time of need."

Donating blood is easy, only takes a little time, and could save a life. All blood types are needed, but according to the email, there's an urgent need for types O- and A-, and nearly critical need for O+.

There are several ways to setup a time to donate. You can simply walk in, but you should call ahead to check the wait. Due to the pandemic, only a small group of people can be permitted in the waiting room in order to properly social distance.

Scheduling your donation time is the best way to avoid the wait. That can be done online at BSWBlood.com or by calling 254-724-4376.

There's an urgent need for blood for this weekend, but you can always schedule a time to donate in the future if you'd like.

Give blood. It could save a life!
