KWTX reported that the Baylor Lady Bears are ready to get out on the diamond and open up their 2018 softball season.

The Lady Bears are opening up their season on Friday against the Northwestern State Demons for a three game series. The first of the three games will take place on Friday.

Baylor is coming off one of their best seasons ever amassed in the history of their program, and also looking to return to the College World Series. There are many players back from that team, and also some new faces that are looking to leave their mark for this group of Lady Bears.

Lady Bear senior standout Shelby Friudenberg, returns this season as one of the most feared hitters in the country. The team is hoping to build on their great season from last year, and make it even further this 2018 campaign.

Lady Bears softball head coach, Glenn Moore, says this opening weekend of softball is very special to him. Northwestern State is his alma mater, and he will enjoy playing them as long as his Lady Bears come away with three wins. Good luck this year Lady Bears!
