Bell County Death Being Investigated As Homocide

The death of an elderly man in Bell County is being investigated as a homicide after it was discovered that his house had been ransacked.

Jack B. Ray was found dead in the back yard of his home in the 17000 block of FM 439 east of Killeen on Saturday. Ray, 83, was discovered by Bell County sheriff’s deputies shortly after 6 a.m., and his remains have been sent to the Southwest Institute of Forensic Science in Dallas for an autopsy.

Sheriff’s deputies are now working with the Texas Rangers after it was discovered that Ray’s home appeared to have been burglarized. Family members are working to determine what may be missing from the home, and the Bell County Sheriff's Department Criminal Investigation Division is asking anyone with information to call 254-933-6759.
