It's not every day the Bell County Expo Center hosts the world's largest anything, so this is kinda cool.

Christopher Williams with our partners at KWTX-TV was hanging out in Belton Saturday to cover the Expo Pole Vault Explosion. Due to a number of cities far and wide cancelling indoor events, the competition just happens to have been the largest indoor vaulting event happening on the planet this weekend.

The event hosted about 400 pole vaults from across the U.S., and will continue Sunday. Participants included people from ages 5 to 80, and even some Olympians. Not bad for lil' ol' Belton.

Check out Christopher's story for some footage and interviews from the event. You'll find it here.

When I see something like this, it just reminds me of the wonderful potential the Bell County Expo has always had for fantastic events. I mean, we have the enormous Bell County Comic Con, awesome rodeos, and some amazing concerts there during normal years. With the vaccine slowly making the rounds, I'm hoping things can start to get back to normal this year and we can finally get back to packing the Expo Center. We're certainly fortunate to have it.
