The City of Belton has announced a second round of Coronavirus Small Business Relief Grants.

The goal of these grants is to help local small businesses that have been hit hard by the negative economic effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. The first phase of grants offered up to $2,000 to qualifying businesses back in September, and awarded funds to several Belton businesses in mid-October.

The total amount of funding available in Phase 2 is $240,000, and funds will be granted to up to 48 businesses. The maximum grant amount is being raised to $5,000.

"If less than 48 eligible grants are submitted, we can evenly distribute the available funds," City Manager Sam A. Listi said Wednesday. "If more than 48 eligible grants are submitted, [the Central Texas Council of Governments] will use identified criteria to rank eligible applications."

The deadline to apply for Phase 2 funds is Friday, November 13 by 5 PM. If your business received grant funds in Phase 1, you may apply again. The same goes for businesses that applied but did not receive funds the first time.

The City's deadline to distribute these business grants is December 15.

There are certain criteria a business must meet in order to be considered for a grant, so be sure to review these before you apply. If you have any questions, you can email Anna Barge with the Central Texas Council of Governments at anna.barge@ctcog.org.
