Wow! Dad Shields His Son From Raging Bull At Belton, Texas Rodeo

Video of a dad jumping in to shield his son from a bucking bull in Belton, Texas has gone viral, and demonstrates what any loving dad would do to protect his child, even if they're all grown up.

Bull Ride Gone Wrong

I’m a big believer that a father’s love alone might very well determine the outcome of a child's life. Your father is your first hero, and the first man to promise you protection and unconditional love. I am confident pro bull rider Cody Hooks shares the same opinion, especially after this.

Cody recently participated in the Bell County Rodeo, during which he was knocked unconscious while riding a big ol' boy of a bull. It happened almost right out of the gate, and though the rodeo clowns did their best to distract the bull, it went back to see if if could hook Cody.

A Father's Act of Courage

Cody's  father was in the audience and witnessed the gruesome fall of his son. Now as a parent myself, I don’t know what my reaction would’ve been to see my child fly into the air straight onto the hard ground while the same wild animal who knocked my child out was still running around hysterically.

Cody's father didn’t second guess himself. He hopped straight into the dirty and his first instinct was to make sure that his child was okay by shielding him with his own body. Just imagine the feeling of that impact. Ouch.

Father of the Year

As a parent, this article is so emotional for so many reasons. First and foremost, it perfectly demonstrates the unconditional love and instinct to protect that a parent will forever have for their child.

I commend Cody's dad on not only his bravery, but for being an amazing father. Cody made sure to go to social media and thank his dad for what he and the other people in the dirt did to protect him. To all the great fathers out there, thank you for your love and protection.
