Roy Potts, Former President and Owner of the popular Belton department store Cochran, Blair, and Potts, has passed away at the age of 91.

Cochran, Blair, and Potts have a 150-year-old history as a Texas Department store, and Roy was known by so many folks in Belton and Central Texas. He will be missed.

Visitation will take place this Thursday evening from 5 to 7 pm at the Dossman Funeral Home Chapel at 2525 North Main Street in Belton. Funeral services will take place on Friday at 4 pm at the First Baptist Church at 506 North Main in Belton. Potts will be buried at North Belton Cemetery.

News 10 reports that Potts was born on March 7th, 1927. He spent the majority of his life living in Belton minus his service in the US Navy during World War II. He was also away during his time at Texas A&M University in the late 1940's.

Potts joined his family's business after finishing college. He retired as the company's president in 1998. Potts donated the funding for Belton ISD's Roy & Jean Potts Swim Center and was also a supporter of the University of Mary-Hardin-Baylor. The University dedicated Potts Plaza in 2005 to recognize Roy's support.
