As we try to slow the spread of COVID-19 and prevent our hospitals from being overwhelmed, we're having to make a number of sacrifices.

As someone who cares for a parent with respiratory issues, I fully understand why we're being asked to stay home unless it is absolutely necessary that we leave for essential work or to pick up medicine and groceries.

That said, it still stings a little to share the news that Bloomin' Temple won't be happening this year. It shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone, but we've had a few people ask about it.

I look forward to Bloomin' Temple every year. Who doesn't love to get out of the house for some live music, food, and rides when the weather is absolutely beautiful here in Central Texas?

The City of Temple plans to resume the festival in late April of 2021. I hope to see it come back bigger and better than ever, with all of this madness and anxiety far behind us.

Until then, please do your part to protect your friends and neighbors who are susceptible to the worst complications of COVID-19. I know it's not fun being cooped up. I understand. But people like my mother and the countless others who are vulnerable right now are depending on you.
