Bulky Belton Bandit Busted, Now Behind Bars in Bell County
Two weeks ago, we shared surveillance stills from a robbery at a Belton pharmacy. Police now have a suspect in custody.
City of Belton Public Information Officer Paul Romer reports that 21-year-old Joseph Riley Knowles of Morgan's Point turned himself in at the Belton Police Department Friday, August 23. He was booked into the Bell County Jail at 4:43 PM the same day and charged with robbery. He remained in the Bell County Jail late Monday morning in lieu of $100,000 bond.
Knowles is suspected of entering the CVS Pharmacy at 2849 North Main Street in Belton on August 12, handing a pharmacy worker a note, and demanding prescription drugs.
Police released surveillance stills of the suspect in hopes that the public might recognize him and help them make an arrest. Some eagle-eyed members of our audience pointed out that he appeared to be wearing a Columbia Performance Fishing Gear shirt.
Whatever clues people were able to sleuth, it looks like police may have their man courtesy of the man himself. Of course, all suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
