A week ago, four suspects allegedly tried to break into a Killeen man's home, which resulted in one of them being shot. As of Wednesday morning, the wounded suspect remained at large.

The attempted burglary happened in the 200 block of Mary Jane on the night of Tuesday, March 14. A resident of the target home reportedly heard glass shattering, then fired in the direction of his front door when he saw someone trying to enter.

Our news partner, KWTX-TV, reports that the wounded suspect was Markus Koven Smith, who was admitted to Metroplex Hospital in critical but stable condition. He was later released, though it is unclear when. He remains at large, and a warrant has been issued for his arrest.

Three other suspects - Shemar Keon Lee, Mansu Lau Knox, Jr., and Hunter Riley Flores - were charged with burglary of a habitation and intent to commit another felony. Jail records indicated their bonds were set at $30,000. Only Lee remained in the Bell County Jail Wednesday morning.

KWTX reports that Smith was driven to the hospital by Flores. Flores reportedly confessed to being the getaway driver, and consented to a search of his iPhone. According to KWTX, text messages revealed plans for the break-in, the goal of which was to steal narcotics.
