Today, June 14th, 2019 marks the 244th anniversary of the foundation of the U.S. Army. We are blessed to have Fort Hood, one of the largest military installations in the world in our back yard. We would like to take a moment to thank all of our Army listeners and their families a happy birthday and thank you!

A little history and a couple of fun facts. On this day in 1775, the American Continental Army was formed, a year before the signing of the declaration of independence. George Washington was the first commander-in-chief of the Continental Army. And twenty-four U.S Presidents served in the United States Army.

Across the country, there will be balls, cake cutting ceremonies, picnics and the wreath-laying ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery held across the country. Maybe the best way to celebrate is to simply remind yourself of how grateful you are to all the men and women who serve. And of course, reach out to all the members in your life.
