Here were our Top 5 submissions:
Entry 1: I was new to Fort Hood and was in charge of training for the Brigade. So, I was making my rounds on post letting all of the training facilities know who I was. One guy was a little too friendly, but I didn't think anything of it. Later that night, he showed up at my house with 2 dozen yellow roses, chocolate, and a teddy bear. I never gave this guy my number or street address. It was really creepy. I asked him to leave and went to his work the next day to let him know that will never happen again. I also explained to him that women do not like that and how creepy it was. I hope I helped him.
Entry 2: It was our first Valentines Day being married. I went to Cindie’s (woot woot) and got an outfit, cooked dinner had it in the oven. He was getting off work, so I had the shower going with candles and I was already in the outfit I bought! I waited and waited...and ended up falling asleep on the bed. I woke up and heard him talking, so I put a robe on and walked into the kitchen. He and a co-worker were at the table eating our food!!! He had forgotten it was Valentine’s Day and was like, "We’re married now. We don't celebrate that s**t no more, do we?"
Entry 3: Oh. Here we go guys. One year my ex and I went to dinner. We get to the restaurant and our reservations had been made for a different location. We ended up drinking coffee at Starbucks. I was dressed in a gorgeous dress and heels and it was pouring rain and muddy. On the way home, our tire blew. Come to find out my "manly" boyfriend didn't know how to change a tire. Yup. So I did it. On my knees. In the mud. In my pretty dress and heels. I am woman. Hear me roar. At this point, we weren't speaking. But that's not all. We get to the house and there is a card on the door saying "Thank You". I get it before he does, and it is thanking him for the bear and chocolates ‘cause he wouldn't answer his phone. Apparently he had another valentine as well. After 2 yrs together. M-hmm. As you can guess we didn't last any longer. Happy freaking Valentines Day. Thankfully, I’ve found an amazing man who knows how to change tires.
Entry 4: Had told my girlfriend that I don't know if I can do anything big because I'd have to work late; but, in reality, I had everything planned out. Dinner, flowers, candy, etc. So when the time comes to drop in early with the surprise, I show up to my girlfriend's apartment and knock on the door. She opens the door bewildered to see me and seems very flustered. You guessed it: there was another guy over there, eating the chocolates that I sent her in her bed, under the covers. I hate Valentine’s Day.
Entry 5: Let me start by saying I hate Valentine's Day, not because I am single or because I am lonely , but because I lost my grandmother on Valentine's Day . I was married at the time and my husband and I were going to dinner with my sister and her husband. It was a normal day, and I never expected what was to come. We lived in Baltimore, Md at the time and were going to dinner at the harbor . My sister and her husband meet us at my house with flowers because they knew my husband well and knew he hadn't given me anything , which was sweet of them. So we went to dinner. It was a very nice seafood place, but during dinner I received a phone call informing me that my grandmother had suffered a heart attack and was rushed to the ER . We quickly left and had not finished our meal. The whole family spent Valentine's Day waiting patiently for news on my grandmother. She'd suffered a massive heart attack and they were unable to save her. I remember them letting us in to see her and spend a few moments with her. She looked so peaceful and my heart was broken in two. So, for me and my family, Valentine's Day will never be the same.
The votes are in and the poll is closed. We'll announce our big winner tomorrow! Thanks for voting and happy Valentine's Day!
