
Copperas Cove High School Student Hit by Car at Bus Stop
UPDATE 5-12-26, 9:35 PM: A Copperas Cove High School student who was struck by a vehicle at a bus stop Wednesday morning has passed away.
KXXV-TV reports that 15-year-old Cameron Raine was a freshman at CCH and a cadet in the Bravo Company at the school's JROTC program.
He was waiting for a bus near the intersection of Cactus Lane and Pheasant Circle around 7:10 AM Wednesday when he was struck by a Subaru sedan. He was airlifted to Scott & White Hospital in Temple in critical condition and later died as a result of his wounds.
Department of Public Safety spokesman D.L. Wilson told KXXV the 31-year-old driver will not be cited, as Raine reportedly failed to yield right-of-way to the sedan. It remains unclear how Raines came to be in the path of the vehicle.
A Copperas Cove student was hospitalized Wednesday after being struck by a car while waiting for a school bus.
The incident happened just north of Cove at the intersection of Cactus Lane and Pheasant Circle around 7:10 AM. Officials have not commented on the student's condition, age, or gender. They did say no school bus was involved in the incident.
