Julius Ervin Johnson was charged with assault against a public servant and driving while intoxicated with an open container.

Sunday morning, an officer stopped Johnson's vehicle for a nonfunctional tail light. The officer could smell alcohol and saw a bottle of Crown Royal in the console, a plastic cup containing Crown Royal mixed with another drink, and a third drink on the floor.

Johnson told the officer that he had had several beers at a party in Harker Heights, and was two streets from his residence.

The officer had Johnson perform a field sobriety test, which he failed. After Johnson was taken into custody, he reportedly began kicking the door of the squad car. The officer told him to stop. When she went to open the door, Johnson kicked it again, bruising her wrist.
