Family of 13-Year-Old Killeen Shooting Victim Needs Our Help

As police continue to investigate the shooting death of a 13-year-old boy in Killeen, funds are being raised to help his mother with funeral expenses.

In a news release, Killeen police said Joseph Manuel Claudio Colón was fatally wounded in the 800 block of Green Avenue Thursday shortly before 6:18 PM. He was taken to Carl. R. Dranall Army Medical Center, where he later passed away.

Police have not commented on how the boy was shot, but in the description field of a GoFundMe page generated in Colón's honor, the author wrote, "his life was ravished in what was apparently a game between friends". The author mentions that Colón had access to a shotgun.

As of Sunday evening, the GoFundMe account had reached $1,289 of its $7,500 goal.
