The grand opening and dedication of a new joint-use fire station facility on 4th Street in Lampasas was celebrated on Monday.

Visitors has the opportunity to tour the facility, including vehicles and equipment.

Mayor Jerry Grayson said that the new station will allow for better public safety due to improvements in the facility and the location. The old facility suffered from problems including unsanitary conditions, a bat infestation, and lack of space.

The new building, which firefighters have been occupying since April, allows firefighters to better maintain the equipment and has room to grow if necessary in the future.
