Former Belton Police Chief Passes Away
Condolences to the family of former Belton Police Chief Roy Richard Kneese, who passed away at his home on Sunday, December 13. Kneese was 90 years old.
Our news partners at KWTX report that funeral services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Dossman Funeral Home Chapel at 2525 North Main Street in Belton, with burial service with honors to follow at North Belton Cemetery.
According to his obituary, Kneese was born May 2, 1930 and was the youngest of 4 children. In 1947, Roy enlisted in the United States Army and was stationed at Fort Hood, which is where he would meet his future wife, Iris. He served his country in both the Korean and Vietnam Wars.
Kneese retired from the Army in 1968 after 21 years, and then joined the Belton Police force. In 1974 he would become Police Chief. He held that position until he retired in 1995.
Roy is survived by his four children, 11 grandchildren, and 19 great grandchildren, along with many nieces and nephews.
