A Fort Hood soldier faces federal charges after investigators say he stole explosives and attempted to sell them online.

23-year-old Spc. Tyler Glen Patrick of the 1st Calvary Division's 3rd Brigade Engineer Battalion has been charged with possession and transportation of stolen explosive materials. He was arrested Tuesday in Copperas Cove after federal investigators say he attempted to sell a 1.25-pound block of C-4 explosive that was stolen after a field exercise on base.

U.S. Attorney Robert Pitman and FBI Special Agent in Charge Armando Fernandez announced the nature of the charges against Patrick on Thursday. If convicted, Patrick could be sentenced to up to 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine. He is currently being held in the McLennan County Jail as the U.S. Army Criminal Investigation Division and the FBI conduct their investigation.
