Fort Hood, Temple to Perform Controlled Gas Flares Tuesday and Wednesday
Atmos Energy crews and Centex contractors will be conducting some controlled natural gas flaring Tuesday and Wednesday.
You may have seen evidence of the flaring this morning near 31st Street between Tank Destroyer Boulevard and Battalion Avenue on Fort Hood. Flaring is done when maintenance is required on a section of piping that requires the gas inside to be burned away so crews can work on it. Most times you simply notice a large flame and some noise that goes along with the burning of the natural gas.
Gas flaring will continue on Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 11601 Little River Rd. close to E. Blackland Road in Temple.
The Atmos website provides additional information about the burns near Fort Hood and in Temple today.
