Strength is something that every person possesses at Conally ISD, as they mourn yet another tragic loss due to COVID-19.

According to a report from our news partners at KWTX, a student by the name of George Moralez, 16, recently passed away after a month long battle with COVID-19.

But Moralez wasn't just a 10th grade student at Connally, he was so much more.

George was a son, a brother, a friend, and a blessing to those who knew him. Since kindergarten, Moralez had attended Connally, and that pride ran deep within him through his involvement with the football team and the JROTC.

George's mother is also a part of the Connally family, and serves as a Connally ISD staff member.

“My heart goes out to Ms. Moralez,” Connally ISD Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources Jill Bottelberghe told KWTX.

“As a parent, no one ever anticipates losing a child. A school district never anticipates losing a student. So it hits very close to home, especially, when you are a parent yourself.”

The school district has already endured so much loss this year with the passing of 3 beloved educators.

The most recent death was that of Angela Thompson, an instructional aide at the Connally Primary Campus.

Just prior to Thompson were the deaths of David “Andy” McCormick, 49, and Natalia Chansler, 41, who were both social studies teachers at Connally Junior High School.

In a continuing effort to protect the students and staff of the district, Connally will host a public vaccine clinic next week on October 11 at the high school from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM. All three vaccines will be made available.

This virus isn't particular in who it chooses. Please take precautions to protect yourself and others.
