You're invited to welcome the holiday season to Killeen this Friday with Santa Clause and Mayor Jose Segarra!

It's a Holiday Under the Stars at the Killeen Community Center, 2201 E Veterans Memorial Blvd, from 6 PM to 9 PM.

Santa and Mayor Segarra will light the 50-foot silhouette Christmas tree, then Saint Nick and his reindeer will stick around to take photos with the kids. You can also take photos inside a giant snow globe.

There'll be family activities and treats as well, and you can cheer on the Killeen Youth Advisory Commission's Baking Competition. Food trucks and vendors will be there too with great eats and unique Christmas gifts.

The 57th Annual Killeen Christmas Parade happens a week-and-a-day later on Saturday, December 14 in Historic Downtown Killeen. The parade starts at 4:30 PM, so be sure to get there early to stake out a good spot.

Also, don't forget that you have until Monday, December 9 to enter the City of Killeen's Outdoor Decorating Contest. There's no cost to enter. Just submit an application form and a photo of your home's awesome outdoor Christmas decorations here, and the Killeen community will vote for their favorites.

Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, and a Happy New Year to all our family, friends, and neighbors in Killeen! 🎅🏻
